Man, 47, dies in hospital after being struck by SUV in Co Monaghan three weeks ago

A pedestrian who sustained serious injuries after he was struck by an SUV in Co Monaghan earlier this month has died in hospital.

Gardaí have reissued an appeal for information on the collision, which happened on Broad Road shortly before 1am on the morning of Saturday September 6.

Following the crash, the man, 47, was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he had been undergoing treatment for serious injuries. 

On Saturday, gardaí confirmed that the man had passed away in hospital.

A garda spokesperson said the force "continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward". 

Any road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage have been asked to make it available to the investigation team.
