Taoiseach 'more hopeful' of deal for lower bailout rate

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said he is "more hopeful" that a deal on a lower interest rate on Ireland's bailout will be struck following talks with the French President in Brussels last night.

Mr Kenny said his discussions with Nicholas Sarkozy at an EU Summit were "convivial and friendly".

He said he reasserted his position that Ireland's corporate tax rate will not be changed and that he will not agree to tax harmonisation.

Mr Kenny, however, would not clarify what is on the table regarding the concessions.
