Strict Irish parents wanted to tame spoiled teenagers
It may not be a laugh a minute, but the money is good and it promises to be a rewarding experience.
Producer Hilary Fennell is looking for an Irish family with teenagers to take part in a new Australian television series which will examine different approaches to parenting around the world.
“The Australian teenagers are just a little bit spoiled and have gone off the rails a bit. They are somewhat rebellious and the idea is that they live with an Irish family with parents who believe in setting boundaries and are much stricter than they would have experienced at home.”
Raising Teens will look at the lives of two middle-class Australian teenagers who have gone slightly off the rails and bring them to live with different families from all corners of the globe.
Ms Fennell said: “The series is about the importance of family values, quality parenting and strong relationships. The goal is to give the rebellious Australian teenagers a wake-up call. The family we choose will be committed to making a difference to these teenagers’ lives.”
The programmers specifically want an Irish family with strong morals and values to take part.
“Ideally our family will consist of a traditional unit with mum, dad and school-age children living at home and have at least one teenager of similar age to our Australian teens.”
The Australians will be 16-17.
Ms Fennell adds that the family must be “willing to host the wayward Australians for one week and to be filmed over this period”.
