Nine spring/summer 2026 trends we can wear right now — and how
Colour is a quick and dirty shortcut—no effort with maximum pay-off.
It’s the end of January. There’s a stretch in the evenings—and in our bank accounts. Before we know it, the clocks will spring forward. Until then, we are faced with the age-old fashion conundrum: what spring summer styles can we wear now?
Glad you asked. It’s not so much what you wear but how you wear it. The key is finding seasonal hero pieces that are flexible enough to ‘winterise’ until the weather gets warmer. Here’s how.
The redux of the boilersuit lends itself to a sartorial sleight of hand. Add a Merino wool roll neck, leather high-top sneakers and full-length wool coat, or swap for strappy sandals, an oversized soft clutch and aviator sunglasses.
Diaphanous capes (especially lace) are big news. Drape over an all-black ensemble, utility fabrics like a denim jacket or a trench reimagined with interesting cuts and details.
The sweater vest (made cool again by Gen Z) operates in a similar fashion, albeit as a top instead of a layering piece when the mercury begins to rise.
For the sartorial hackers amongst us, colour is a quick and dirty shortcut—no effort with maximum pay-off. That bodes well considering maximalism dominates the palette. You could of course give failsafe florals the edge (try Macbees) with last season’s sexy biker jacket.
Speaking of which, leather looks set to rival the suede iterations that have populated our social media feeds. Just be sure, whatever your preference, to prevent any oopsies with protective spray guard. It keeps the ‘grand’ in those ‘grand soft days’. That’s how we like it. Well, until the sun comes out.
