Mickeybo and Me is a film full of quality

Set in Belfast during the troubled l970s, Loane's debut feature tells the story of two little lads from either side of the great divide - brilliantly played by McNeill and Wright - whose adventures, they think of themselves as Butch and Sundance, eventually lead them into dark and dangerous waters.

It's an excellent film based very much on the themes of nostalgia, though there are times when sheer fantasy takes over and threatens to overwhelm the good work beforehand.

Nevertheless, Loane and his sterling cast have fashioned a film full of quality featuring two central knock-out performances from the lads.
