Aviva Insurance Ireland has unveiled two key new appointments.

Sharon Slack has been appointed head of trading, commercial lines, while John Bissett has been appointed to Aviva’s Irish board.

Sharon joined Aviva in 2022 as SME, etrade and schemes manager. In her new role, she will lead Aviva’s commercial lines trading function for all areas except speciality and financial lines.

Sharon has more than 20 years of experience in the general insurance sector. She held senior roles at firms including Integrity Underwriting and Contessa. She holds a degree in Economics from Queen’s University Belfast and is a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

John Bissett to its Board, bringing extensive experience and insight to the Aviva board. He has held key roles at Coyle Hamilton, Willis, and Glennons. He has served on the boards of Coyle Hamilton, Brokers Ireland, Glennon Insurance Group, and Arachas Corporate Brokers.

John is widely recognised for his expertise in managing large broker businesses and working with many of Ireland’s largest businesses. He brings deep understanding of risk management, insurance risk, and regulatory compliance, John combines technical knowledge with a strategic perspective.

John holds professional qualifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute and is a member of The Institute of Directors and the Insurance Institute of Ireland.
