Wrafter appointed as new chair of Circal

Energy storage specialist Circal appoints industry veteran Lorraine Wrafter to chair its board

Energy storage specialist Circal has appointed Lorraine Wrafter as its chair.

Lorraine brings 30+ years of experience as a non-executive director and chartered director in global organisations, notably in governance and organisational transformation. Her experience spans agriculture, financial markets, food, FMCG, industrials, and renewables, from start-ups to mature businesses with roles in Belgium, Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, and the USA.

Bill Sadlier, CEO of Circal, said: “We welcome Lorraine to our board where her extensive cross industry business acumen will be invaluable as we accelerate our ambitious growth plans to scale and deliver large scale clean energy renewable solar projects across Ireland, Europe and the US.”

 Circal, an Irish-based developer of large-scale solar and energy storage projects, has 4.5GW in combined capacity of active projects in Ireland and the USA.

Circal’s developments include two projects, circa 500MW near OpenAI and Oracle’s Stargate Data Centre in Texas and two significant solar farm projects with a combined capacity of 315MW currently in the planning process stretching across the Co Limerick and Co Kerry borders and separately in Co Meath.

Lorraine Wrafter currently serves on the supervisory board of Ignitis Group, a European renewable energy company, where she chairs the nomination and remuneration committee. She has previously held a number of international board and advisory board roles with companies including Sadeem Technology, Thematiks and HACK -CMP.

Prior to this, she was M&A integration director with sustainable construction firm Holcim. She also spent over 24 years with Cargill Food Ingredients, in roles including global talent and leadership development director; business transformation director and global head of talent management.
