Stars of fashion and music cam out in force to support Burberry at London Fashion week yesterday.
The luxury label attracted visitors including US actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, singer Paloma Faith, and models Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Cara Delevingne, who were in the front row.
Always a highlight of London Fashion Week, Burberry presented patchwork of 1970s-style prints abundant in autumnal patterns.
“I loved it. There’s so many things I wanted to wear,” Gyllenhaal said.
Faith agreed: “It was a really amazing show, it’s beautiful.”
The super brand is known to attract A-listers via a shrewd marketing campaign to maximise publicity so it was not by accident that the array of stars was in attendance to watch the show.
It was a carefully choreographed event even if Naomi Campbell was 20 minutes late taking her seat beside Mario Testino and Kate Moss.
Burberry’s creative director and chief executive, Christopher Bailey, said of the tasselled trench coats and ponchos: “I wanted this whole patchwork of different textures, colours, prints, patterns and really this celebration of all these skills. I wanted it to feel more relaxed, more effortless.
“We’re living in this incredibly fast world, which I love, but it’s also nice sometimes to pause and see things that are really made by hand.”
