Iceberg alert

AUSTRALIA’S Bureau of Meteorology issued a shipping alert after a iceberg was spotted 1,700km off the south-western coast.

It is 19km long and 8km wide, and is edging toward Western Australia, reports said.

The iceberg is to break up as it moves into warmer waters, resulting in smaller icebergs that could be hazardous to ships.
