Boyle set for Dream album debut

SUSAN BOYLE’s debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, is poised to become Britain’s biggest-selling album of 2009 — in just four weeks — the Official Charts Company said yesterday.

The CD from the Britain’s Got Talent runner-up has sold more than 1.4 million copies, rocketing it into the lead. The top three albums of the year, from Boyle, Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon, had all shifted more than a million copies by Saturday night, but Boyle’s lead has been increasing over this week.

Lady Gaga’s The Fame has enjoyed 49 weeks of chart success, while Only By The Night by Kings Of Leon has had 65 weeks.

Susan Boyle was an unknown at the start of this year but her audition on the ITV1 talent show became an internet sensation and helped transform her into an international star.

The audition was the most-watched clip on video website YouTube this year.

The Scottish singer’s rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from the musical Les Miserables was watched more than 120 million times by viewers across the world.
