Ann Cahill says a euro exit would lock Ireland out of the markets (Irish Examiner, May 20).
A 2011 Bank of America study concluded the opposite, that the Irish pound would rise, not fall against other currencies. Conor Ryan has said that the billions France is owed by Italy, Greece, and Spain are unlikely to be repaid in full (Irish Examiner, May 28). Businessmen Paschal Phelan has said Ireland should revert to the punt. Why are multinational firms shifting deposits out of the euro, if it’s such a great currency? Why are Irish firms like CRH, Greencore, and DCL delisting from the ISE and moving to London? Why has Denmark postponed plans to join the euro? Why did Dell move its Limerick plant to Poland? (Ms Cahill says multinationals would flee Ireland if we left the euro).
