Vote may not derail the EU juggernaut

IT still seems that EU juggernaut of the political elites — as noted by Joe Higgins — cannot be derailed by our democratic decision.

This endgame will result in further distrust of our politicians.

The Taoiseach blustered his way through the referenum debate without giving a satisfactory riposte to the more forensic anaysis of the no side.

Enda Kenny’s vagueness and lack of grasp of detail was a bit of an embarrassment, as indeed was the Referendum Commission at times.

As the no side has prevailed, our distrusted politicians have shown themselves not to be leaders in any real sense, but to have failed Irish citizens and our fellow Europeans.
