Tackle high prices charged by drug companies

Hospital waiting list figures have continued to grow at an unacceptable rate. Many of our elderly are waiting five to six years for orthopaedic surgery and cataract operations. I have 20 such cases on file.

What is needed is a modern service, but what exists is an archaic, consultant-led service which is incapable of meeting needs.

Junior hospital doctors and nurses are under terrible strain, overworked and underpaid. Yet consultants can earn big money, not only from public patients, but from private work.

The health service is also the subject of a massive rip-off by pharmaceutical and health supply companies, and this is not being investigated.

The rip-off of the health service by the drug supply sector is nothing short of a scandal. Pills and so on, that cost a few cents to develop, are allowed to be sold to fatten the profits of multinational companies.

Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, has a tough job on hand. I wish him good luck in his endeavours.

Testing beauty products in shops is verboten for the moment, a restriction that depletes the whole retail experience, in my view. The chief reason to go bricks-and-mortar shopping for beauty it to try before you buy.Make a splash with your skincare this summer with the best water-based makeup
