Setting an example

Congratulations to the Governor of the Central Bank, Patrick Honohan, for taking a pay cut!

I believe Leo ‘can’t shut up’ Varadkar is lost for words? The guy at the top of an Irish institution takes a cut — maybe he believes that in these times he is making more than enough and wants to stand with the Irish citizens, suffering due to the recession.

Maybe our politicians will stop hiring their adviser friends, breaching pay caps and giving themselves more pay rises. Then maybe take a realistic cut in their wages and numbers.

I won't hold my breath.
