Reason to hope

OVER the years the Labour party has often called for an end to the Civil War split between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, this to be effected by those two parties combining in Government.

Most people seem to believe that we are likely to have a general election by the end of 2011. The political commentators are unanimous in believing this will be a Fine Gael/Labour coalition. Given the projected division of the ballot, the Labour party could force their desired union on the two conservative parties by refusing to coalesce with either.

The emergence of a strong Labour-led opposition would lead to government.

Am I naive? Probably, but we need reason to hope, badly.
