Professionalism and sensitivity at Mercy

While there is hardly a day goes by when the HSE doesn’t come in for some media criticism, I should like to remind your readers that on the shop floor, as it were doctors, nurses and ancillary staff are working flat out to deliver the best service possible to their patients.

That, at least, was my personal experience from a three week stint as a patient at Cork’s Mercy hospital. In the main, I came under the care of the cardiac team led by the eminent Professor Doctor Carl Vaughan. And it is due entirely to their skill, and similarly, that of Dr Harney and his pain team, that they sent me home a much healthier person than I was when I was admitted
