People before ideology?

Deputy Bríd Smith, signing her letter of May 5 (Irish Examiner), gives the party to which she is affiliated as ‘People Before Profit’. Whatever party we support I think most would agree that people should come before all else.

Yet in it she calls the existence of the Eighth Amendment “an ongoing disgrace” affecting “the ability of women to have autonomy over their bodies” and thinks abortion should be seen as “a standard procedure” here as it is elsewhere.

She may place people before profit but she does not place them before her own pro-abortion ideology; clearly as far as she is concerned that is something the lives of some, the vulnerable unborn, should be subservient to.
