Miley will be missed

I MET the late Mick Lally just over 20 years ago. He chatted away in his usual bubbly style as he cleared the children’s jigsaws off the living-room floor.

I remember asking him how he coped with shopping and just going about his normal day-to-day business in the locality in the light of his fame as Miley Byrne in the RTÉ series, Glenroe?

“Well, I just pull a big scarf over my face and I put a cap on my head and that way very few people recognise me.”

Mick was a true gentleman, a very kindly and earthy individual. He will be truly missed.
