Lesson in media ownership

Your editorial (Nov 30) asking all of us, and especially those at the top of the power pyramid, to “learn a lesson on concentrated media ownership” is a point well made.

The fact that the most powerful citizens in this State were able to make decisions over a long number of years which eventually bankrupted the country, without being adequately challenged, is a lesson for all of us.

It is especially a lesson for those in charge of and working in the media.

All the rest of us need to have the powerful held to account, and we also need to know that what is going on behind the closed doors of the powerful and influential is not going to prove very costly for all the rest of us.
