Increase in my invalidity payment is 18.5c per day

We have been told, repeatedly since the last budget, that people would see an increase in their incomes this year, that the economy had taken a turn for the better, and that we would all benefit after years of hardship.

Well, I must say a big ‘thank you’ to our government.

I’m not exactly sure if my invalidity increase was a mistake.

Perhaps there is more to come, or, maybe, just maybe, Ms Joan Burton will ‘adjust’ my increase next week, when she realises she may have made a huge mistake in her figures?

My anxiously awaited increase in my pension amounted to, wait for it, 18.5 cent per day, or a staggering €1.30 per week.

Our politicians must have had weeks, if not months, of sleepless nights making these ‘tough decisions’ for the people who bailed out the banks.
