Gallagher tweet myth

Could we please put an end to the myth that Sean Gallagher’s presidential campaign was derailed by a tweet.

Why didn’t Gallagher say straight away “yes, I was asked to locate business people who would be willing to pay to attend a Fianna Fáil fund-raising dinner to be hosted by Brian Cowen and I did so.

I collected the cheques, made out to Fianna Fáil, and forwarded them. There was nothing wrong or covert about this, it was done openly and was a standard way for political parties to raise funds.”

Had he done that there would have been no tweet because there would have been no point in sending one.
