Elections illustrate our democracy is no charade

I have just heard on the radio an independent TD declare democracy in this country to be just ‘a charade’ which went unchallenged by the presenter. This is a democratic republic in which all have the right to vote.

And at a time when two independent TDs were elected to the Dail to represent us in this democracy. I also hope that they do not regard their election as ‘a charade’.

Also our media should show more appreciation of the privileged position they hold. They should challenge any attempt to demean the freedoms both they and us enjoy in this democracy.
