Council bosses have failed homeowners

County Council management have failed to ensure that demographics are linked into planning permission in respect of private homes.

This is a fundamental failure&.

The County Council and the city management have failed to deliver on the National Spatial Strategy 2002 – 2020 document published by the Department of the Environment.

It is the responsibility of County Council and City Council management to deliver on the fundamentals outlined (on page 9) in the report, including the delivery of “more balanced social, economic and physical development”.

By not providing an effective system of planning control, there has been speculative and uncontrolled development. This has led to over-supply of homes and to the collapse of the housing market, resulting in an estimated negative equity of €40bn and the widespread impoverishment of Irish people, many of whom have taken out 30-year contracts with banks to whom they will effectively be enslaved unless they emigrate.

Not only have County Council and City Council management failed to deliver, they have not been held to account for failing in this fundamental task.

The Government, for its part, has no intention of giving any assistance, whatsoever, to such hard-pressed families and is punishing them further by increasing household taxes to help pay for the generous salaries of those who failed them.
