Cork unneighbourly in resenting Shannon’s success

Having lived outside Ireland for 42 years, I have never seen such resentment of one area of the country towards another.

Fianna Fail leader, Micheal Martin, and the Irish Examiner are begrudging Shannon Airport for doing so well, because they can’t do well, and are blaming Shannon.

It’s the same with the dog track.

It owes three or four million euro to the Government, but the Limerick & Clare dog racing body will pay that back over time.

Cork Airport owes about €116m but they want the country to pay it back. Talk about good neighbours; more like neighbours from hell.
