Cabinet meeting should look at unemployment supports

You report that there is a special cabinet meeting planned for this month devoted to jobs (Irish Examiner, January 2).

All such reports fail to carry any information on what government plans are to deal with the tens of thousands of people living on inadequate unemployment supports.

In the absence of any realistic chance of creating anywhere near full employment, it is an abdication by the government to fail to address this issue. Market-centred policies have failed and will continue to fail.

Einstein’s definition of insanity, as the act of doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, comes to mind here.
