Livewire Trump - Republican nomination

LOVE him or hate him, there is no getting away from the fact Donald Trump could well become America’s next president.

A man of his time, he can be guaranteed to give people who want instant solutions to problems a quickfire answer to every question. His confirmation as the Republican candidate at the convention in Cleveland, Ohio, pits him in what will now descend into a personal no-holds-barred fight to the bitter end with Hillary Clinton, who will be formally confirmed as the Democratic contender next week.

Already, the rough and tumble has kicked off with Mr Trump’s wife, Melania, accused of blatant plagiarism over apparently copying parts of Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech. Ironically, Mr Trump has described his wife’s speech as “incredible”.

Mr Trump now faces the challenge of uniting a Republican party deeply divided over his brash style and utterances. Hate him or love him, he’s a livelier candidate than Mrs Clinton and that counts as they embark on the rocky road to the White House.
