THE presidency of the United States is not just of importance to Americans; it is also of huge significance globally as it remains the most powerful and influential job in the world.
The notion that Donald Trump could have his hand on the nuclear button is scary, to say the least, and it is to be hoped that it may be enough to galvanise American voters to choose Hillary Clinton, the first woman to be nominated for the position by a major political party.
Trump is undoubtedly popular but he is also a toxic presence in US politics.
Hillary Clinton does not possess the easy charm of her husband but she is smart and capable and would undoubtedly do her nation proud by becoming the first woman president of the United States.
“I can’t believe we just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet,” Clinton declared as she was nominated at the Democratic Party convention in Philadelphia.
It is to be hoped that she doesn’t just crack that ceiling but smashes her way through it.
