WATCH: Pro golfer strips off mid-practice to rescue baby bird

During a Monday practice round at the Players Championship, English professional golfer Greg Owens was involved in a dramatic rescue at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Owens, 44, noticed a baby blue jay had fallen out of a tree into a pond near the 16th hole and was struggling to swim out of the water.

And the 6ft 5 golfer couldn’t stand idly by, stripping off his clothes so he could jump in and save it.

Owen’s instructor, Tony Ziegler, posted the video to Facebook where it’s taken off - over 120,000 views and 1,000 shares.

Commenters have since pointed out that those ponds can sometimes contain alligators which adds a whole other level of danger to the rescue.
