The English retail giant has gone for a hi-tech Mrs Claus out Santa-ing old nick himself.
There are two variations of Christmas adverts: the 'tearjerker' and the 'festive joy' versions. Lidl have gone for the former in spectacular fashion. We dare you to watch this and not break down into a quivering ball of emotion. It's Irish themed, which wins it plus points, and it's primed to knock the cynic out of the most hardened of souls. Bar raised.
The meeting room of the John Lewis marketing department must have been a very interesting place the day someone pitched the concept of a pair of foxes, a badger, a squirrel and a boxer dog on a trampoline as the stars of their Christmas campaign.
It's utterly bizarre.
Asda has gone for a series of wholesome family shorts and they are pretty darn festive.
It's a bah-humbug turned good with some familiar TV faces from Tesco and a clever pre-Christmas ad that will leave the anti-festive whingers confused as what to complain about.
