Lionel Messi immortalised in bronze statue

A statue of Lionel Messi has been unveiled in Buenos Aires, just days after his shock announcement to retire from international football

Messi made the decision just moments after Argentina's penalty shoot-out defeat to Chile in the Copa America 2016 final.

The defeat was Messi's 4th international final loss and his 3rd in the competition.

The statue unveiled by the city's mayor is seen as a symbol to tempt the country's leading footballer back to the international stage.

We hope to see him for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
