Ferguson got timing just right, says Keane

Roy Keane believes Alex Ferguson has made the right decision to call time on his illustrious career.

“It’s always sad to see a great manager leave the game, but I think he’s made the right choice,” Keane told ITV, after admitting he wasn’t surprised to hear the news of the Scot’s exit.

“I was obviously very lucky to have played under him, and privileged that he brought me to the club… he generally got it right – he might have made one or two mistakes, particularly I think with me towards the end, but it takes nothing away from the fact, as I said, it was a privilege to play for him.”

Keane also dismissed Fergie’s infamous ‘hairdryer treatment’ as more of a media gimmick than a reality that he lived in fear of.

“This hairdryer business, it never concerned me!”
