TV3 HAVE inked an agreement with former Setanta chief executive Niall Cogley’s new event production enterprise to pilot their host broadcast coverage of next year’s Europa League final at Dublin’s new Aviva Stadium.
Cogley quit as Setanta Ireland chief executive last week but parted on good terms, according to sources, who insist the company may well be a customer of Cogley’s new enterprise.
However Cogley’s first project will be with TV3, as Broadcast Event Director, overseeing the station’s coverage of next year’s UEFA Europa League Final on May 18, 2011.
As host broadcaster, TV3 will be responsible for providing the worldwide feed to over 170 markets as well as being the exclusive broadcaster in Ireland. Cogley will work with the TV3 Sports, Operational and Commercial teams and liaise on behalf of TV3 with the FAI and the City of Dublin as well as UEFA and all their partners to deliver this major broadcasting event.
Cogley formally resigned as chief executive of Setanta Ireland last week to pursue this new business venture.
Mr Cogley, a former director of sport at RTÉ, was chief executive at Setanta for more than six years. He has been replaced in the interim by Michael O’Rourke, one of the sports broadcaster’s co-founders.
