Cobh Rambler's Drinan on the double for Ireland

Cobh Ramblers striker Aaron Drinan scored a first-half brace last night to help Ireland’s U18 Schools side record a resounding 3-0 win away to Wales in their concluding Centenary Shield fixture.

Just six minutes were gone when Drinan unleashed a 35- yard screamer for the opening goal and he grabbed a second nine minutes before the break by converting Eoghan Morgan’s cross.

Jamie Ahern smashed in a penalty 10 minutes after the restart to underline Ireland’s dominance in Llandudno.

Although Ireland finished the four-game campaign unbeaten, draws against Northern Ireland and England ultimately cost them the prospect of retaining the trophy.
