Blackrock beginning to roll again

Blackrock College 39 Terenure College 11: Leinster Schools Senior Cup, first round: Blackrock College’s quest for a third consecutive Leinster Schools Senior Cup title began in devastating fashion against Terenure College at Donnybrook yesterday.

Thanks to superb touch-downs from Stephen Kilgallen and centre Kyle Dixon, as well as a 15th minute penalty try, ’Rock held a commanding 19-6 interval lead.

Further tries arrived for the defending champions through Kilgallen (his second) and Peter O’Reilly after the restart, and despite conceding a late five-pointer to Terenure centre Ted O’Donoghue, Blackrock had the final say with a perfectly-crafted Tommy O’Brien effort in stoppage-time.
