Great Barier Reef and Ryan Moore win for trainer Aidan O'Brien at the Curragh. Healy Racing

A significant Betfred Derby market move Sunday morning for Constitution River was news to the man who trains the impressive Dee Stakes winner.

Speaking in the aftermath of Sun Goddess’s impressive victory in the opening race on Irish 1,000 Guineas day, Aidan O’Brien expressed surprise when it was put to him that the Wootton Bassett colt had been backed into favouritism for the Epsom Classic on June 6.

“For which Derby,” O’Brien asked when the question was posed about a horse who began this weekend as favourite for next Sunday's French Derby.

“I thought everyone was leaning towards the French Derby. Those were the vibes I was getting, I thought that was the way it was going. They [the lads] didn’t tell me it was after changing. I’ll be the last to hear as usual!

“Maybe the lads changed their minds. I haven’t heard yet but maybe they have.”
