Golf superstar Rory McIlroy has joined Danish girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki in a high profile Women’s Tennis Association advertising campaign.
The new ‘Strong Is Beautiful’ campaign features celebrities from entertainment, music, business, film and sport speaking of their love of women’s tennis.
McIlroy finds himself in good company. Business tycoons Richard Branson and Donald Trump, actress Susan Sarandon and singers Aretha Franklin, Kelly Rowland and Nadine Coyle also feature in the global campaign.
The celebrities, who were joined by top tennis stars such as Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and Wozniacki, were reportedly not paid to appear in the campaign.
Andrew Walker, chief marketing officer of the WTA, said: “There has been rapid growth in women’s tennis, but now we think that tapping into the massive following of the celebrities will help.”
McIlroy tweeted: “Had fun shooting the new @WTA #Strong Is Beautiful campaign with @Caro Wozniacki. It was fun!”
