Morrissey on march indoors

John Morrissey emphatically clinched a men’s singles quarter-final place in the Wilson National Indoors Championships at David Lloyd Riverview last night.

After a 6-2 6-0 victory over Pádraic Kilcoyne in the opening round, Morrissey swept aside Aaron Stubbs 6-4 6-0 in their last-16 contest.

Morrissey nurtures ambitions of breaking into the world’s top 50 and playing Davis Cup for Ireland as soon as he can after finishing his scholarship in the US.

Morrissey’s reward for his victory is a clash against fellow Donnybrook club member David O’Hare, who cruised to a 6-0 6-1 victory over his clubmate Andrew Kirwan.
