Colin Cowherd believes Pacquiao’s shoulder injury is just a sales pitch for a rematch.
Cowherd - who presents The Herd on ESPN Radio and ESPNU - is sceptical about the news that the Fillipino will be out of action for nine months as he undergoes surgery on a shoulder injury sustained while training for Saturday night’s fight with Floyd Mayweather.
“He suffered the injury in training camp two-and-a-half weeks earlier and it clearly hampered him during the fight,” Cowherd said.
“It’s interesting, then how come you didn’t sign that piece of paper right before the fight acknowledging you had an injury?
"I’m not saying he’s not hurt, but this is garbage. It’s an excuse to explain a boring fight and now what they’re trying to do is make the media (and eventually the fans) think, “Oh! So it could have been a much different fight!”
Pacquiao could face a possible fine or suspension after answering ’no’ on a Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) questionnaire ahead of the welterweight unification showdown in Las Vegas last Saturday.
“Greed, arrogance, sketchiness, false narratives and an underwhelming product,” continued Cowherd. “Boxing wants to squeeze another fight out of the public and sadly, they’ll get it.”
"Boxing is so sketchy,” he added. “You’re really going to trust them?”
