Penalty puts Moate on road to shock win
Moate All Whites shocked a fancied Straffan in yesterday’s Leinster Club JFC final at Cusack Park, Mullingar.
Moate turned in an excellent first half display to lead 0-8 to 0-3 at the break.
A controversial 32nd minute penalty awarded to Moate and converted by John Corbally laid the platform for victory.
In a tense finish, Straffan’s Rory Byrne was sent off, and then a late free converted by Corbally gave Moate a four-point victory.
