Magnificent mystery Mayo point defies cameraman gymnastics

Not even the intrepid cameraman leaning out of the Kingspan Breffni Park press box could identify where this boomer came from.

Defying line-of-sight logistics and acuity of angles was Mayo footballer Darren Coen playing for Hollymount-Carramore against Loughinisland in yesterday's AIB All-Ireland intermediate semi-final.

Buoyed by this display of white magic, the Mayo side won 0-15 to 0-10 to progress to a decider with St Mary’s of Kerry at Croke Park on February 6, where Darren will be able to shoot the breeze with Mary’s manager Maurice Fitzgerald about long-range sideline heroics.

The footage was captured by Local Streaming and the cameraman who did his level best was Anthony Moran.
