Treaty boss Ryan names three newcomers for clash with Clare

Limerick hurling manager TJ Ryan has given three debuts for Sunday’s Munster SHC quarter-final clash with Clare in Semple Stadium (throw-in 4pm).

Goalkeeper Barry Hennessy of Kilmallock is given his championship bow due to the injury suffered by Nickie Quaid, while Patrickswell duo of Seánie O’Brien and Cian Lynch — last year’s minor captain — are also newcomers, at left half-back and left corner-forward, respectively.

The Treatymen’s side features 11 of the team which began against Kilkenny in last year’s All-Ireland semi-final. Aside from Quaid, David Breen — also injured — Wayne McNamara and Kevin Downes are the absentees. After missing the league campaign due to a knee operation, Downes is named as a sub.

For their Ulster SFC clash with Cavan in Kingspan Breffni Park at 2pm on Sunday, Monaghan have made three changes since the Allianz FL Division 1 semi-final loss to Dublin. Drew Wylie replaces Thomas Kerr at full-back while Dick Clerkin returns at midfield, with Kieran Duffy indirectly missing out as Darren Hughes goes to wing-forward and Dessie Mone drops to the full-back line. Dermot Malone comes in for Ryan McAnespie in attack.

Roscommon go to Ruislip to face London in the Connacht championship on Sunday, with midfielder Mark Healy making his first appearance in the championship. There are a total of six changes from the Division 2 final win over Down. Scott Conroy, James Moran, Adrian Moyles and Alan O’Hara are the London debutants.

Dubliner Pat Burke, who plays for Kilmacud Crokes, is Clare’s only maiden starter for the Munster SFC quarter-final against Clare in Cusack Park tomorrow night. Eoin Cleary is given a first championship start.
