McLoughlin and Cronin back for Cork

Cork have made two changes in personnel and several positional switches for Sunday’s Munster SHC final clash with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds from the side that beat Clare in the semi-final.

Fit again Lorcán McLoughlin (Kanturk) comes in at midfield to partner Daniel Kearney while Bishopstown’s Pa Cronin is named to start at left half-forward.

Stephen McDonnell moves to full-back, with Shane O’Neill starting at corner-back. Tom Kenny drops back to the half back line. In attack, Cian McCarthy starts at centre-forward with Stephen Moylan dropping to the bench.

Team captain Cronin completes a very physical half-forward line that has obviously been chosen to nullify the outstanding Limerick half-back trio of Gavin O’Mahony, Wayne McNamara and Paudie O’Brien.

In contrast, Limerick manager John Allen and his selectors have expressed full confidence in the starting 15 that saw off Tipperary in the Munster SHC semi-final to do likewise against Cork.

He named an unchanged side last night, meaning there’s no place in the starting line-up for either Shane Dowling or Niall Moran, two from a very strong bench again held in reserve.

For their clash with Kilkenny in Thurles, Waterford make only two changes from the side that defeated Westmeath last time out, Jamie Nagle coming into the half-back line for Ray Barry, youngster Jamie Barron replacing the injured Paudie Mahony.

For Kilkenny, the big story is that Henry Shefflin has not been named in the starting team but he should feature at some stage.

Meanwhile, for what is sure to be a cracking Munster minor hurling final against Limerick, the curtain-raiser to the big one, Waterford have made just one change from the team that overcame Cork in the semi-final, DJ Foran starting in place of Cormac Curran.
