John ‘Bubbles’ O’Dwyer reveals he received abusive letters

Tipperary star John ‘Bubbles’ O’Dwyer received abusive letters to his home earlier this year.

O’Dwyer, who scored 1-5 in the All- Ireland final, made the revelations on twitter yesterday.

The 24-year-old tweeted: “And to the people who sent me some lovely letters at the start of the year abusing me and my family, I’d love to meet ye now. #veryquiet”

“I had my doubters at the start of the year. I think I’m after proving my doubters wrong here now.”

The Killenaule man also apologised for his language when interviewed by RTÉ Television in the aftermath of Sunday’s win - declaring Tipperary as the “champions of f**king Ireland.”

“I would like to apologise to RTÉ GAA and The Sunday Game for my slip of the tongue yesterday,” he said.

He tagged in Irish Olympic boxer Michael Conlan (who conducted an expletive-filled interview on RTÉ after his Olympic exit) to add: “It happens the best of us.”
