Glen and Bride rivalry renewed in Cork SHC fixtures

Glen Rovers’ quest for a third Cork SHC title in a row will begin against Bride Rovers in the 2017 preliminary round.

In 2010, the Glen and Bride were involved in a spiky affair which initially resulted in both being ejected from the championship before being reinstated on appeal. The winners of that tie face Sarsfields in Round 1, while this year’s Premier IHC Bandon will also contest the preliminary round against Muskerry, the winners playing Blackrock.

This year’s Cork SFC champions Carbery Rangers begin with a local derby against Clonakilty in Round 1 of the SFC. In 2006, the Rosscarbery club’s first senior game following promotion was a defeat to Clon. Another game of note is the meeting of O’Donovan Rossa and Nemo Rangers – the Skibbereen club beat Nemo to win their only title in 1992 – while premier intermediate champions Kiskeam play Avondhu.
