Boyles get reprieve

Banished Kerry hurling brothers, Liam, Mikey and Padraig Boyle, have been handed an inter-county lifeline by Kingdom manager John Meyler.

The Ballyduff brothers were cut from the Kerry senior squad last week after the trio played a Kerry District League soccer match for Rattoo Rovers three days before Kerry’s Allianz Hurling League loss at home to Carlow.

“They [the Boyle brothers] will be in contention again for the Christy Ring Cup,” he said.

“There is no doubt about that. As soon as the league is over, they will be in contention to be selected for the Christy Ring, as well as Andrew Keane and all the other fellas.

“The panel is always open and we are always looking.

“When you don’t have a huge pool of players you have to be on the lookout all the time at club matches, and the North Kerry League is starting soon. We’re looking at everybody

“Going forward I need the most committed players, and everybody will be looked at.”
