Footballers call on Cadogan

Cork dual star Eoin Cadogan reverts to the county football squad for next week’s national league double header in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The hurlers take on Galway but Douglas clubman Cadogan will be in action for the Cork footballers in their clash with Kerry. Cork hurling boss Jimmy Barry-Murphy confirmed that Cadogan, who starred at wing back for the hurlers yesterday, would be available to football boss Conor Counihan for the crunch game with the Kingdom.

However, the Cork hurlers may be boosted by the availability of long-serving forward Niall McCarthy.

The Carrigtwohill clubman has been battling a long-standing groin injury but will train with the county hurlers this week.

Cian McCarthy of Sarsfields, another long-term injury absentee for the hurling squad, is believed to be two to three weeks away from match fitness.
