New boss Stephen Rochford names powerful Mayo side for visit to Cork

Despite being ravaged with injuries, new Mayo manager Stephen Rochford has been able to name nine survivors from last year’s All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Dublin for tomorrow’s Allianz FL opener with Cork in Páirc Uí Rinn (2pm).

Though players like Cillian O’Connor, Séamus O’Shea, Keith Higgins, and Alan Dillon are marked absent, the Connacht champions will still have a strong side on show, with centre-back Caolán Crowe and left half-back Shane Nally the only two league debutants. Donal Vaughan, more recognised as a defender, is named at full-forward.

While Rochford has yet to appoint a captain, Lee Keegan will skipper the side.

Roscommon’s side for their clash with Monaghan in Kiltoom features only six of the starters from last week’s FBD League final defeat to Galway.
