Murphy close to return

Donegal star Karl Lacey has revealed team-mate Michael Murphy could return to county training by Friday.

The former young footballer of the year missed the county’s Ulster preliminary round win over Cavan, last Sunday, due to a knee injury picked up in March.

“I think he might be back at the end of the week, it’d be great to get him back fully fit,” said Lacey. As for whether the forward will be fit to play in the quarter-final game against Derry next month, Lacey said of Murphy: “I’m not too sure. I think he’s hoping to be back.”

Rower Philip Doyle believes there is no gain without pain when it comes to training. “You have to break a body down to build it up,” says the 27-year-old matter of factly.Irish rower Philip Doyle: 'You have to break a body down to built it up'
