Garrycastle roar into seventh heaven

Garrycastle 1-11 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-08
Garrycastle won their seventh Westmeath SFC title, and their first since 2011, when they defeated Mullingar Shamrocks by six points in Cusack Park, Mullingar, yesterday afternoon.

This was a very sweet victory for the Athlone based side as they were almost dumped out of the championship in the group stages.

However, under the guidance of Des Dolan senior, father of Dessie Dolan, Garrycastle showed great resurgence to reach thefinal, before deservedly overcoming Shamrocks in what was a disappointing, tactical and scrappy affair.
