The sides were level (1-8 apiece) after an hour of gripping football and the Wicklow champions, who were dominating after a poor first half, were clinging to a two points lead (2-10 to 1-11) late in extra-time.
Éire Óg piled on the pressure and were rewarded when Eric McCormack goaled to edge ahead. But seconds later Paul Earls punched the ball to the net at the other end to secure a sensational victory for the Wicklow champions.
A Simon Rea goal had given Éire Óg a dream start but St Pat’s were back in contention when Austin O’Malley netted. O’Malley had a second goal in extra-time before an incredible 60 second spell developed.
